R.E.M. photos from the end of the 20th century (as we know it)
As we recalled today on our post about R.E.M. kicking off their five-night residency at The Olympia Theatre in Dublin 13 years ago, is perfectly clear that Michael Stipe and his sidemen have a good number of fans around the world and only a few confused dislikers (can't tell I ever met one). But even though the American alt-rockers made it through the new century in good shape before splitting up in 2011, what we're showing you today from the photo archive are snaps of their biggest gigs in Ireland (Slane Castle, Lansdowne Road) and photoshoots through the lens of photographers like Leo Regan, Colm Henry, Cathal Dawson, Mark Classon, Stephen Crowley and Paul Natkin from the end of the 20th century.
