GREY skies did NOT dampen Limerick music fans' enthusiasm as The Coronas STORMED King John's Castle! Live at the Castle is synonymous with the biggest and best live shows and Saturday night was another epic. Local band Oscar Blue kicked things off in front of a nearly full venue. The Castle courtyard had barely standing room when it was time for The Coronas. Making an entrance via the rear door which was displayed on a huge screen on stage, Danny and the gang were videoed coming up the steps, opening the door on an amazing night, and running out on stage. It ramped up ten notches from here as the renowned band rocked King John's to its very foundations! An amazing lighting display together with a huge screen displaying the band's every move, the venue, and the transfixed crowd fused the spectacle in a way that every member of the audience felt part of the show. Within three songs Danny was in the pit thanking his die-hard fans at the front of the show. The gig included duets with Danny, Róisín O, and Cian McSweeney. Then midway through Danny was down again for a surf session, eventually stopping at the sound desk where he got the crowd singing in full voice. The other band members were very lucky because if Danny had headed for the exit and crowd would have been on the street in a matter of minutes! A night to be remembered was brought to a close with an encore of 'San Diego Song' that had the audience screaming at the top of their voices!
