The Libertines ROCK Cyprus Avenue to its core! In front of the sold out Cork City venue Pete Doherty, Carl Barât, Gary Powell, and John Hassall of the renowned English rock band The Libertines ripped it up last night in Cyprus Avenue. It was an action packed card as American rock and Americana singer-songwriter Nick Driver with his band from North Carolina kicking the show off. They were followed by Irish singer-songwriter Thomas Urwin from County Antrim. It was a big week for Urwin having just realised his debut EP 'Born A County Antrim Boy'. Now playing support to The Libertines the EP release was more special as it was produced by Peter Doherty and Jason Stafford. Doherty also plays bass, lead guitar, and provides backing vocals on the track “Bangers & Beers”. The cover artwork for the EP was also created by Doherty and Thomas Lepretre. During Urwins set The Libertines guitarist and singer mingled among the crowd and posed for photos with fans who noticed him.
With the excitement building the main attraction came on stage to rapturous applause. The supremos were on top form with Barat and Doherty sharing vocals. The current tour 'All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade' is titled on their new album released earlier this year. The gig showcased the new album as well as fan favourites from their repertoire spanning over 20 years.
