Not even the dreaded Irish summer festival rain could dampen the spirits of the twenty thousand plus fans who thronged St. Annes Park to get a glimpse of the legendary music talent of Tom Jones and Nile Rodgers at St Anne's Park on Sunday June 9.
Billy Ocean opened proceedings much to the delight of the adoring fans taking us through his much beloved catalogue of hits from the 70's and 80's which included hits such as "Caribbean Queen", "Red Light Spells Danger, and "when the going gets tough".
It was then the turn of music legend Nile Rodgers, who along with Chic and his awesome band of incredibly talented musicians, reminded us why he is the godfather of funk with a high tempo blast through a truly impressive life's work in the music industry, which has delivered multiple hits across numerous musical genres and seen collaborations with some of the biggest names in the music industry such as David Bowie, Diana Ross, Madonna, Daft punk, Duran Duran and countless others.
Belting out a selection of such hits, it was clear to see how important an influence this man has been on the music world. With an infectious smile, a humble gratitude and a deep passion for what he does, Nile well and truly delivered on what was a night to celebrate music legends.
Finally, and with baited breath, it was the moment we had all waited for. Arriving on stage with a wry smile and looking incredible, Tom Jones paused to allow the thousands of screaming fans to sing "Happy Birthday" as he celebrated his 84th Birthday.

Opening his performance with a sharp reminder of why Tom Jones' has one of the best voices in the business. fans were allowed to witness an incredible performance of an artist whose musical reach has spanned over sixty years.
Opening his mesmerising set with an extraordinary performance of " I'm growing old" and taking us through numerous much loved back catalogue favourites such as "Its Not Unusual", Sex Bomb" and "Delilah", Tom gave an absolute masterclass on vocal delivery and with a grin and a swagger that righteously bestow legendary status upon him, we were left in sheer awe of this performer!
