Living legend Van Morrison kicked off week two of Live at the Marquee on Friday night. Showcasing his 'Accentuate the Positive' tour, the Belfast singer/songwriter graced the Cork, Marina stage at 8 pm sharp in typical 'Van the Man' fashion there was no introduction just straight into the opening song 'You Are My Sunshine'. In fact, throughout the Leeside show, there was little interaction with the crowd by the now 78-year-old but elaboration is not required when you're in the midst of a genius at work! The stage layout was lowkey with the band members all dressed in black and the man himself in a blue suit, fedora hat, and sunglasses. Standing in front of a gold mic stand and microphone his 2023 album 'Accentuate the Positive' dominated the opening half of the show. Then to the crowd's delight favorites like ‘Days Like This’, ‘Enlightenment’, and ‘Precious Time’ brought the transfixed concertgoers to more familiar ground. ‘Jackie Wilson Says’ was the penultimate number with Van introducing the band members. And closing out a night to remember was ‘Gloria’.
