Waterford Indie band Woody held an amazing launch for their eagerly awaited debut album 'Beans On Toast' on Saturday night at Bank Lane, Waterford City. In front of a huge crowd band members Craig Dunphy (lead singer, rhythm guitar), Alan O'Brien (lead guitar), Colm Dempsey (bass guitar) and Cian Weldon (Drums) said, "We’re buzzing to finally be releasing our debut album after almost four years of writing, recording, re-recording, mixing, and mastering. It takes a huge amount of effort to get an album out into the world but we are so proud of the work we have put in over the last few years."
Woody have been releasing original music together since 2020, starting with their debut EP 'Bananas' which quickly garnered a fan base in their local music scene. Each song on the EP was highly regarded, none more than the opening track ‘Single Bed’, a pop-inspired tune about unrequited love which gave the band its first taste of radio airplay.
The band began work on the album in 2022 and it was at this time that Cian Weldon joined as the new drummer. As Craig, Alan, and Colm worked on lyrics and the music Cian blended seamlessly into the band's ethos. In late 2023 the jangle-pop single ‘Breaking My Heart’ a highly anticipated tune was released. And following an interview on Waterford’s WLRfm, the album’s title track ‘Beans On Toast’. Now after four years of hard work, the full album is being delivered.
