Ye Vagabonds headline on day one of When Next We Meet Music Festival set in the idyllic grounds of Raheen House Hotel, Clonmel, South Tipperary. The folk duo consisting of Carlow-based brothers Diarmuid and Brían Mac Gloinn were the perfect vocal point to the June bank holiday weekend celebration of the best in alternative and independent Irish music. The weekend signaled the start of a month-long tour for Ye Vagabonds as they play 18 dates over the 30-day period.
The music got underway on Saturday evening on the Hidden Gems Stage with MDR, The Cedartowns, and as the crowd began to build alternative folk act Briars served as the perfect introduction before the attention moved to the main stage. Tipperary native Cormac Looby was the curtain-raiser with his own brand of folk. A highlight was his performance of his recently released single 'Angel, Baby’.
Next to the main stage was Ennis singer-songwriter Susan O'Neill. As the sun began to fade it was O'Neill's talents that began to shine. Better known by her stage name SON, switching between guitars to trumpet and looping different riffs to form the backbone of each song all married to the powerful yet soulful voice was a sight to behold.
