'Saturday Night Live' writer and actor Mulaney told Esquire in 2019 that he began drinking at the age of 13.
Actor and comedian John Mulaney has entered rehab to seek treatment for cocaine and alcohol abuse, according to US reports.
Saturday Night Live veteran Mulaney reportedly checked into a facility in Pennsylvania for 60 days.
“John’s friends and family are happy that he’s finally getting some help and focusing on his health," a source told Page Six.
“His fans know he’s struggled in the past with sobriety, he has talked about it openly. Unfortunately he has struggled again during the pandemic. He’s on board with his recovery, he’s not fighting against rehab.”
Mulaney has written for Big Mouth, among other shows, and has been open about his issues with addiction in the past.

“I drank for attention,” he said. “I was really outgoing, and then at 12, I wasn’t. I didn’t know how to act. And then I was drinking, and I was hilarious again.
In the same interview, Mulaney said that he became sober in 2005 at the age of 23.
“I went on a bender that weekend that was just, like, fading in and out of a movie … It was just crazy … I was like, ‘You’re fucking out of control,’” he said. “And I thought to myself, ‘I don’t like this guy anymore. I’m not rooting for him.’”
In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel earlier in 2020, Mulaney said he has struggled during quarantine, and asked his close friend Seth Meyers for employment to help his mental health.
“I really needed a job. I like having a boss and having assignments to do,” Mulaney said. “When I’m in charge of something...not so much the best thing. I wanted to have a boss, I wanted to have structure.”
