Second Class Sperm

In a blow to gay rights activists, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is recommending a ban on receiving sperm donations from gay men who have had sex within the previous five years. The FDA has insisted that gay men pose a higher than average risk of carrying HIV/AIDS. Critics of the move have suggested a screening process that focuses on high-risk behaviour by all donors, irrespective of sexual orientation. Despite its intended purpose, the new rule would potentially make it easier for infected sperm to reach patients. In theory it would be possible for fertility clinics to accept sperm from a straight man with a history of unprotected sex, but not from a gay man who is in a monogamous, safe sex relationship. Whether or not the FDA’s proposal becomes law, it is widely expected that doctors and clinics will comply with the recommendations.

Speaking of sperm donations, poor Pamela Anderson is considering artificial insemination. The actress already has two children from her marriage to Tommy Lee but having broken up with her fiancé, Kid Rock, she’s worried her options are becoming limited. Poor Pam, currently 37, is determined to have another baby before turning 40 but is having difficulty finding a man up to the job. Ironic, considering many a wasted sperm must have been spent pondering Pam's artificial attractions.

Span started shooting porn films after graduating from Central St Martin’s School of Art.
