News and views from around the world, stimulation for the eyes and ears, Sexton's Miscellany plus this week's Top Sex Tip...
What a lovely condom you’re wearing
If you thought condoms were only for safer sex, think again. According to the Economic Times, India’s sari-weavers use condoms on their thread spools because the lubricant makes the thread move faster. Condoms are also turned inside out and weavers use the lubricant to polish the gold and silver thread used in saris. India manufactures more than one billion condoms annually but only about 25% are used as prophylactics. (There’s a few ways you could interpret that information – Ed).
Colin on the small screen
Colin Farrell is suing an ex-lover for allegedly trying to distribute a sex tape they made together. According to Colin, he made the tape with Nicole Narain with the agreement that it would not be made public. The lawsuit claims that the release of the tape would harm Colin’s career and reputation. Don’t know about that! It worked wonders for a certain Paris Hilton – and Colin is hardly known for his quiet, unassuming ways.
Stimulation for ears and eyes:-
Good vibrations from durex
Not content with merely making a fine range of condoms, the good people at Durex have launched Play Vibrations, a vibrating condom ring. Play Vibrations is a disposable condom ring that offers 20 minutes of pleasure. If you’ve never used sex toys, condom rings are a great way to start. They can be used over or with a condom. You can also try slipping them on your finger or tongue and stimulate your partner. Play Vibrations are available from www.durex.ie at e6.99 each.
While you’re shopping, don’t forget to complete the Durex Global Sex Survey. This is only the second year that Ireland has taken part, so spill the beans for our national good. Information is power! And to sweeten the deal, one lucky respondent will win a trip to South Africa.
Wank for world peace
If you have a spare five minutes you might want to pleasure yourself in the name of world peace. The Masturbate for Peace movement has collected over 17,000 petitions from 91 countries supporting their unique appeal. According to the organisers, you can’t love others until you learn how to love yourself. A neat excuse indeed! They’d like you to log on and tell them how you’ll jerk off for the common good of mankind. See www.masturbateforpeace.com.
Casanova Challenge
Giovanni Jacopo Casanova is probably the world’s best-known lover. There is no exact record of how many women he made love to, but it’s at least 132. However, Casanova was more interested in the quality of the experience, not just the numbers. Elvis, Aleister Crowley and Sarah Bernhardt all out-do him and the courtesan Ninon De Lenclos claimed to have had 4,959 lovers. So what exactly did Casanova get up to in order to command his reputation? Here’s a run-down:
Virgins he deflowered: at least 31
Royal lovers: 15
Servants: 24
Wealthy or noblewomen: 18
Prostitutes: 11 known

This issue's top sex tip: Breast is best
Most women and lots of men have sensitive nipples. Like the genitals, nipples contain erectile tissue that swells when aroused. When stimulating the breasts and nipples, it’s important to be careful. Less is often more, as some people’s nipples are very sensitive indeed. Try stimulating the nipples as your partner approaches orgasm. This can make climaxing more intense. A tiny percentage of lucky women are able to orgasm from breast stimulation alone.
Here are a couple of tricks to try.
A bit of lubricant goes a long way. Wet your thumbs before rubbing them over the nipples. Alternatively, try applying lubricant to the nipples and rub and tease them gently.
Slide your hand over the breast so that your thumb and index finger encircle the nipple. Using the nipple as the centre point, gently twist the breast clockwise and anti-clockwise.
Don’t ignore the underside of the breast. This is a very sensitive area for many women. Lick the underside, following the curve of the breast, or use a flat tongue to lick from the bottom of the breast towards the nipple.
Gently suck, lick and blow on the breasts. You can try holding the nipple between your teeth and flicking your tongue over and back across it. But be careful with those teeth…
