Red Light for XXX Domain
A plan for a new Internet domain exclusively for adult content, dot-xxx, has been put on hold, after George W. Bush’s administration expressed concern. Although the domain has the approval of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the American government fears the new domain would encourage more pornography on the web. The idea behind the dot-xxx domain was to make it easier for parents to filter out adult content unsuitable for minors. On the other side of the argument, net campaigners are worried that the creation of the new domain is merely a form of Internet censorship. According to the BBC, more than 10% of all on-line traffic and 25% of all Internet searches are for adult material.
Playboy on the Desk Top and in the School Bag
Playboy magazine is to launch a digital edition with this October’s issue. The website is scheduled to go live on September 13th, the same day the issue hits the shelves. While Playboy has been losing readership to rival publications such as Maxim and FHM, subsidiaries such as its TV station remain popular. A line of Playboy stationery aimed at schoolgirls has proved to be a big seller in Ireland. The stationery has caused controversy with both parents and teachers expressing shock that notepads, pencil cases and other back-to-school paraphernalia branded with the famous bunny logo are readily available in Eason’s and other well-known stores. At the time of writing, only Roche’s Stores had decided to drop the range.

Johnson & Johnson, manufacturer of KY Jelly, recently released results of a survey of Irish attitudes to sex and romance. Here’s the lowdown:
Home is where the heart is.
Fifty two per cent of Irish adults reckon a special dinner at home is the best romantic setting, with 46% of us opening a bottle of wine to help the proceedings. 45% of us reckon that even without the tasty treats, home is the best place to create a sexy mood, although 17% of Irish males prefer an unusual place, such as an elevator.
Locker room tales.
One in two Irish adults are willing to talk about their sexual experiences to their friends. Although conventional wisdom suggests that women are more likely to spill the beans, Irish men trail only marginally behind. People in their 20s are more likely to share intimate details than older people.
Made for each other?
Oh dear! When it comes to relationships, men and women want different things. While 66% of Irish women want to get married, only 48% of Irish men feel the same. 20% of Irish men prefer casual relationships, while only 5% of Irish women do.
