MICHÉAL MARTIN SAYS NO TO PORNOGRAPHY
Michéal Martin, Minister for Trade, Enterprise and Employment has decided that amateur Irish pornographer, Stephen Ryan, cannot registered a company called ‘Pornography’. Ryan, who runs a blog and casual encounters site called sex.ie, hoped to set up a site called porn.ie but was refused by the IE Domain Registry on the grounds that the word ‘porn’ was offensive. Ryan hoped to get around this ruling by registering ‘Pornography’ as a company. The Companies Registration Office (CRO) sent Ryan’s application all the way to the top, but the Minister has decided that a company named ‘Pornography’ would cause offence. So much for enterprise, eh?
CLOTHES ARE BETTER THAN SEX
Me, I am fond of clothes, but not as much as some girls. An American survey found that most women would be willing to give up sex for 15 months (!) for a wardrobe full of new clothes. Of the 1,000 women questioned, God help them, 2% said that they’d happily give up sex for three years in exchange. Perhaps men are partially to blame. 48% of the respondents said their favourite article of clothing was better than their man in making them feel sexy and giving them confidence.
SEX: PAST & PRESENT
If you’re heading to Germany in the next few months, take time out for a cultural event. An exhibition entitled “100,000 Years of Sex” is taking place at the Neanderthal Museum in Mettman near Düsseldorf. The show features ancient erotica such as voluptuous and well-endowed statues, sexually explicit engravings, a 28,000-year-old phallus and the oldest condom in the world. More than just a collection of artifacts, the show explores how sexuality has evolved and changed since our Neanderthal ancestors’ times. The exhibition runs until 20 May.

SEXTON’S MISCELLANY
THE MORE THINGS CHANGE…
Throughout the world, virginity in females was – and sometimes still is – regarded as a prized commodity, but this wasn’t universal. In Tibet, a respectable young woman was expected to have many lovers before being considered ready for marriage. By contrast a married woman was expected to be faithful to her husband. Sound familiar?
This fortnight's top sex tip: Use your fingers
One of the great things about getting older is that it’s been a long time since I’ve been with a man who didn’t know what he was doing with his fingers. But for the benefit of less experienced male readers, here’s some easy tricks to try:
You want to get your partner very wet and excited before actually fingering her. Begin with light, gentle caresses around her inner thighs and on her pubic hair. Take your time. Once she starts arching her pelvis, you’ll know she’s beginning to get excited.
Next move on to the labia. Place your hand over her labia with the fingers pointing down towards the anus. You might want to try using some lube here. Warm it up on your hands and then gently explore the inner and outer lips of the vagina, moving upwards in stroking movements, lightly brushing past the clitoris, but not actually touching it.
Once she’s excited enough, circle the clitoris with your fingers. Move your forefinger around, between her inner and outer labia from her perineum to her clitoris. With one finger begin to tease her vaginal opening.
If she’s not yet wet enough, continue playing with her labia and clit. Fingering can be painful and a massive turn-off if she’s dry. I’ve said it before, but it’s worth mentioning again that cracked, broken or long nails are a no-no. Make sure yours are short and smooth.
In the next issue I’ll give you some advice on what to do when you go in. Stay tuned.
