INDIAN STATE TO BAN VIBRATING CONDOM
A condom with a vibrating ring is causing controversy in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, as the ruling Hindu nationalists say it is a sex toy and should be banned. The state government, which has banned sex education in schools, claims the condom is not a contraceptive or safe sex aid and that its use could be “against Indian culture”. Sex toys are banned in India. Manufacturers are disputing the claim, saying that the condoms are simply a novel way of encouraging safe sex.
You’d have thought that encouraging safe sex is important in India. In the last year, India has overtaken South Africa as the country with the largest number of HIV/Aids cases. A state-owned company, Hindustan Latex, will be releasing a condom which is flavoured with a mixture of betel nut and tobacco, known as paan. The company tested flavoured condoms with sex workers, who preferred the paan taste to others, including banana and chocolate. The condoms will be sold to the public later this year, but sex workers will be given supplies immediately.
TOO CHICKEN FOR SEX
A judge in Painesville, Ohio has ordered three men charged with soliciting sex to take turns wearing a chicken costume while carrying a sign that reads “No Chicken Ranch in Painesville” – a reference to the Nevada brothel, “The World Famous Chicken Ranch.” According to officials, this to send a strong message that sex-for-sale will not be tolerated in Painesville. We will refrain from commenting on the name of the town.
LADY GODIVA IN PETROL STATION
It sounds like something from a movie, but customers in a petrol station shop in Doemitz, a small eastern German town, were surprised to see a tall blonde woman pop in to buy cigarettes wearing nothing but a pair of gold stilettos and a thin gold bracelet and then – get this – walk back to a waiting red Ferrari! According to petrol station employee Ines Swoboda, the woman has come in to get her ‘messages’ in the nip before, and none of the other customers objected. If they had, the mysterious Lady Godiva could have faced charges of creating a public disturbance.

CONDOM FACTS
Oh be grateful for the wonder that is latex! We all know that condoms are our best protection against sexually transmitted diseases and, luckily for us, these days, condoms are widely available and come with a variety of different options. This fantastic prophylactic has had a colourful history, and here are some interesting condom facts:
- It is believed that the Egyptians (circa 1350B.C.) used condoms. These were probably made of animal bladders or intestines.
- In the 8th century condoms were made from sheep, lamb and goat intestines, and sometimes even fish skin.
- Gabrielle Fallopio, an Italian anatomist, claimed to have invented the condom in 1564. It was intended to protect against syphilis.
- In the 16th century, linen was used to make condoms. A ribbon at the top tied the condom around the penis.
- Charles Goodyear obtained the first patent on a crepe rubber condom in 1844 and the first condoms available in the US were made from vulcanized rubber in the 1870s. They were expensive, very thick and were, ahem, ‘rinse and reuse’.
- Now for a bit of advice: read the package insert carefully! Most condom failure is due to using the condom incorrectly.
It’s wisest to use a condom from a trusted manufacturer. Lesser brands of condoms have been shown to leak minute amounts of virus-sized particles in laboratory studies. However, researchers concluded that using any kind of condom is at least 10,000 times safer than not using a condom at all.
Studies show that young people who believe their friends and peers use condoms are far more likely to use condoms themselves.

This issue's top sex tips: 10 sex tips for men
What do women want, what do they really, really want? Well, that depends on which woman you’re asking. But to make things a little easier, Suzi Godson, author of The Sex Book, has these top ten tips for guys. Learn them by heart!
- There’s no substitute for excitement. Lubricants should never be used as a short cut.
- There’s more to sex than pushing the right button. Men who focus on just the breasts and genitals, reduce their partners to a set of body parts.
- Most women want to experience a penetrative orgasm as well as a clitoral orgasm.
- Though quickie sex has its place, for women on the whole, if arousal builds gradually, it floods the entire body rather than being confined to the genital area. A delayed orgasm is considerably more powerful than an orgasm induced by five minutes of clitoral stimulation.
- epeatedly chopping and changing positions and techniques can make a woman’s sexual excitement nose-dive.
- Thrusting for hours without climaxing doesn’t make you a stud. It makes the vagina sore.
- The average woman doesn’t like her weight or looks, and being naked makes most women feel vulnerable – so be sensitive to her insecurities and, if you think that your partner looks great, tell her!
- Never nudge your partner’s head towards your genitals. During a blow job don’t thrust into your partner’s mouth, don’t hold her head, and definitely warn her when you are going to come.
- Watching a sexy movie with your partner will increase the chance that you will have sex. This could be a regular movie or porn, depending on what she’s into.
- Remember to take your socks off.
