The new compelling single comes out almost a month ahead of her biggest headline show in Dublin at The Sugar Club in February.
Irish indie-folk artist Ailbhe Reddy is tipped for a major breakthrough in 2017 after her EP release Hollowed Out Sea.
Not a month ago, she announced her biggest headline show in Dublin at The Sugar Club in February.
Now, you can check out her new single 'Relent' here.
For Ailbhe 'Relent' is "about looking back on a soured relationship & realising how it could have been, seeing the lessons and my own shortcomings as part of the story. It’s about the guilt that forms part of the natural retrospection on a once loving relationship. Too often these songs can be purely accusatory, whereas I’ve tried to explore the reality that there are two sides to every story and each party has their own narrative as they see it. The inspiration was these feelings and the song was written as an attempt to express this and move forward from it. To sweeten what has soured and move on without guilt".
Ailbhe had over a million Spotify streams of her self- released debut EP Hollowed Out Sea since its release in June.
She first began to attract attention when a homemade demo of her song 'Cover Me' was used in a Today FM radio advert in 2014. Later that year her first single, 'Flesh & Blood' garnered excellent reviews and was featured as 'Song of the Day' on Folk Radio UK.
Her independent EP Hollowed Out Sea's first single, 'Distrust' was Claire Beck of TXFM's 'Record of the Day', and The Last Mixed Tape's 'Song of the Week'.
Ailbhe has gone on to feature on almost every major Irish festival line up in 2016 including Electric Picnic, Other Voices, Body & Soul, Hard Working Class Heroes, Knockanstockan and Spirit of Folk.
Her song 'Seasonal' was also recently included in the soundtrack of the new RTE series Striking Out.
Ailbhe Reddy plays Dublin at The Sugar Club on February 22. Tickets can be purchase via Ticketmaster.
