The new singles that reflect on his newfound fatherhood, pair with the singer's signing with the Nettwerk Records
Belfast-based folk singer-songwriter Joshua Burnside has announced his signing to the Nettwerk label with new singles, 'Marching’ Round the Ladies / The Good Life.'
Joshua's new tracks are soft and harmonic, aiming to capture a lullaby that would lull his new son to sleep. 'Marching Round The Ladies' is a callback to the singer's youth, which was full of marching bands and traditional music.
The singer teased his new singles on Instagram.

“Marching Round the Ladies is my adaptation of an old Belfast street song for children. There would have been a dance to go along with it. I’ve changed the melody and added more verses, with nods to places that have been important to me over the years" Burnside explains.

"The line about the Shankill and the Falls I added later, just as a bit of craic really. But the sentiment of those lyrics became the soul of the song, and has been really fun to sing. Especially in England.”
Burnside is known for his folk-inspired music that has garnered over 170,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Based in Belfast, his style blends Irish and Scottish folk-rock with Americana, world music, sound collage, and electronica influence. He debuted with his album Ephrata, which he wrote while living in Colombia, the LP features Cumbian rhythms.
