Scottish songwriter Gordon Graham met Brighton-born Ben Townsend while on a fleeting trip to the UK and within a couple of weeks were putting together their debut album, Our Troubles End Tonight. This is a thoroughly satisfying collection of songs, beautifully arranged and produced. Soaring melodies and stylish chord structures; there are echoes of Serge Gainsbourg and Brian Wilson in this album, but it’s done in such individual and modern style that the songs are far more than the sum of their influences. So much so that Skint Records have just signed them for their next release, even though they’re a guitar act. Have a listen and you may just find your troubles end tonight.
