(31/100 The People's Choice)
Tom Butler, Co. Donegal, hotpress.com:
"I always prefer to think of Rattle & Hum as a sort of ‘Son Of The Joshua Tree’ rather than a follow up. There’s a great single album in there. Everybody forgets how much of a shock ‘Desire’ was at the time, for such a big band to rattle off something that sounded like a cross between Bo Diddley and a garage band. But there were some really ambitious songs on it. ‘Hawkmoon 269’ had a brilliant lyric and a powerful vocal, and the way the band built up this huge crescendo behind Bono was magical. On ‘God Part II’ they were experimenting with some of the harder sounds they used a couple of years later on Achtung Baby. And ‘All I Want Is You’ is one of their greatest songs, with that amazing string arrangement."
