Today, the 71-year old British rock-star and singer of 'Maggie May' met the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace. Prince William bestowed the title upon Sir Roderick, placing him among the ranks of Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Van Morrison. The Queen has recognized the achievements and humanitarian efforts of musicians for many decades.

Standing among 86 recipients during the morning ceremony, Stewart donned colorful tartan trousers to display his Celtic heritage. His excitement beamed through as he wished his parents were able to see the proud moment. Nonetheless, his wife Penny Lancaster and two sons witnessed the monumental day.

Rod Stewart will perform at the 3Arena in Dublin on November 18.
