Susan O’ Neill takes a new approach to an 60s classic, creating a song set for the times
Ireland's rising star SON, Susan O’ Neill, has released her latest single - a cover of The Rolling Stones 'Gimme Shelter.' It was produced by O'Neill and Irish musician Simon O'Reilly. Her previous single 'Baby Talk' was released earlier this year.
“I decided to take a new approach to a song that I love. It was cool to slow down the words and explore the sounds in a very personal way, sitting in them for a while, and trying on a new feeling,” said SON in a press release.
In wake of this year's upended fears and pandemic, people are seeking comfort for what will come after this time. The Rolling Stone originally released the song during the Vietnam War era and beginning to many civil rights movements around the world. Today's world is once again experiencing an uprising of societal change and voices fighting for what they believe in.

She will then perform two sold-out shows at The Royal Spa Theatre in Lisdoonvarna on October 24. On November 12, she will take over Theatre Royal in Waterford.
