(46/100 Greatest Irish Albums)

Their major label debut, Been There, Seen That, Done That, released in ’88, showcased a band chomping at the bit. But it all came together for Something Happens on their second album. Recorded in LA with acclaimed producer Ed Stasium (Ramones, Talking Heads etc), Stuck Together… had everything – stellar playing (especially on the part of guitarist Ray Harman), and a great vocal performance from Tom Dunne. Most of all it had superb songs of the calibre of rockers ‘What Now?’ ‘Good Time Coming’ and ‘Kill The Roses’, not to mention hook-laden pop-rock tunes like ‘Brand New God’ and ‘Patience Business’. The album’s best known track is undoubtedly the single, ‘Parachute’ (once voted the top Irish single of all time in a 2FM/hotpress poll). Centred around a piano riff uncharacteristic of the band’s more guitar textured sound, it remains a classic, which sounds as fresh today as it did 14 years ago.
