On the eve of Amy Winehouse’s plans to contribute backing vocals to her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield’s performance on BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing programme to-morrow, the singer’s record label Island Records have announced that the singer expects to have a new album in 2010
Island’s co-president Darcus Beese has said that Winehouse has been writing and recording "in fits and starts" on the follow-up to her last album Back To Black. That album was released three years ago and clocked up sales of over 10 million copies. It also scooped five Grammy Awards.
In recent times Winehouse has been plagued by drug and health problems, and a series gigs scheduled for last May were cancelled. But while living on the Caribbean island of St Lucia, the controversial artist has been writing and recording with producer Salaam Remi, who was also involved in Back To Black.
